Umrah Visa from Pakistan 2026: Step-by-Step Guide, Costs and Rules

Last checked: September 2026. Umrah rules, packages and prices change often. Always confirm the latest details on the official Nusuk Umrah platform and with the Ministry of Religious Affairs before you book.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis travel to Makkah and Madinah to perform Umrah. The process has changed a lot in recent years, with Saudi Arabia moving almost everything onto its digital Nusuk platform. This guide explains how Pakistani pilgrims get an Umrah visa in 2026, what it costs, which vaccines you need, and the mistakes that most often cause problems.

Two Ways to Get an Umrah Visa from Pakistan

Option 1: Through an Attested Pakistani Operator (Most Common)

Most Pakistani pilgrims book an Umrah package through a travel company on the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ list of attested Umrah operators. The operator works with a licensed Saudi Umrah company, which issues your visa as part of the package.

For the 2026–27 season, the ministry’s list included more than 100 attested operators across Pakistan, including in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Always check that your operator is on this official list before paying any money.

Option 2: Directly on Nusuk Umrah

Nusuk Umrah is Saudi Arabia’s official platform for pilgrims. You create an account, add money to a Nusuk wallet and buy a visa-included package from an approved Saudi provider. Availability for Pakistani passport holders has changed over time, so check whether packages are available for you when you register.

Option 3: Saudi Tourist eVisa (Only If You Qualify)

If you hold a used US, UK or Schengen visa, or permanent residence in the US, UK or EU, you may qualify for the Saudi tourist eVisa. Muslim visitors can perform Umrah on this visa outside the Hajj season. Read our Saudi Arabia visa guide for details.

How Much Does Umrah Cost in 2026?

For most Pakistani pilgrims, the Umrah visa is not paid for separately. It comes as part of a package that includes hotels, transport and insurance. Your total cost depends mainly on:

  • Hotel distance from the Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah
  • Number of nights in each city
  • Season: Ramadan and school holidays are much more expensive
  • Flights, which may or may not be included

As an example, on 28 September 2026 the cheapest package on Nusuk was about 3,593 riyals per person for 5 nights in Makkah, and a 10-night Makkah and Madinah package was about 6,231 riyals. Prices change daily, so treat these only as a rough guide.

Saudi Arabia has also made a food voucher mandatory for Pakistani pilgrims. Ask your operator to show it as a separate line in your bill, along with insurance and transport.

Health Requirements

  • Meningitis (ACYW) vaccine: required for all pilgrims, taken at least 10 days before arrival.
  • Polio vaccine: required for travellers from Pakistan.

Keep your vaccination certificates with your passport. They may be checked at the airport before departure or on arrival.

Documents You Need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Recent passport-size photo with a white background
  • CNIC copy
  • Meningitis and polio vaccination certificates
  • Family Registration Certificate (FRC) or marriage certificate, for families and for women travelling with a mahram
  • Confirmed hotel booking made through Nusuk or your operator
  • Return flight booking

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Get your vaccinations at least 10 days before your travel date.
  2. Choose your route: an attested operator or Nusuk Umrah.
  3. Verify your operator on the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ attested list.
  4. Book your package and submit your documents.
  5. Receive your Umrah e-visa by email or through your operator. Check that your name and passport number are correct.
  6. Download the Nusuk app before you travel.
  7. Book your permits in Nusuk after arrival, including your Umrah permit and your visit to Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah in Madinah.

Important Rules to Remember

  • No Umrah visas during Hajj season. Umrah visas are suspended around the Hajj period each year.
  • Never overstay. Overstaying can lead to heavy fines, deportation and a future ban from Saudi Arabia.
  • No work allowed. An Umrah visa is only for pilgrimage.
  • Women travellers: rules about travelling without a mahram have changed in recent years. Confirm the current rules with your operator or on Nusuk before booking.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Booking with an unregistered agent. This is the biggest cause of fraud, cancelled visas and pilgrims stranded without hotels.
  • Getting vaccinated too late. The meningitis vaccine must be taken at least 10 days before arrival.
  • Name mismatches. Your name must match your passport exactly on every booking.
  • Not reading the package details. Check exactly what is included: hotel distance, meals, transport between cities, and ziyarat.
  • Forgetting Nusuk permits. Without a permit, you may not be able to enter certain areas at your chosen time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an Umrah visa take from Pakistan?

When all documents are complete, it usually takes a few working days. During Ramadan and other busy periods, it can take longer, so apply at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date.

Is there a separate Umrah visa fee?

For most Pakistani pilgrims, the visa is included in the package price. Ask your operator for a full breakdown of the costs.

Can I perform Umrah on a Saudi tourist visa?

Yes. Muslim visitors on a Saudi tourist eVisa can perform Umrah outside the Hajj season, but most Pakistanis only qualify for this visa if they hold a used US, UK or Schengen visa.

How do I check if my Umrah operator is genuine?

Check the official list of attested Umrah operators published by Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony. If the company is not on the list, do not book with them.
